TITLE: Area Director

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of 21st Century Clubs

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SALARY: $60,000

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:30 PM (Occasional Nights/Weekends)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversees a group of assigned Unit Directors and their Club operations, grant requirements, and deliverables with the primary concern for program development and implementation; staff development; supervision of assigned Directors and other staff; facilities; budget management, and Club safety.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)

  • Leads the development and implementation of organizational program goals, grant requirements, and standard operating procedures at assigned Clubs.
  • Develops/assists in the development of budgets for each program and for special projects and administers such expenditures.
  • Supports and supervises the work of assigned Directors and other staff in achieving program goals by providing technical assistance in program design, development, community relations, and program opportunities.
  • Evaluates overall programs in relation to participation and achievement of program goals.
  • Assist Unit Directors in organizing and coordinating overall staff development including recruitment, selection, evaluation, and training.
  • Plans and implements a staff development and training program.
  • Holds monthly committee meetings as assigned and moves committee action toward desired outcomes of the organization.
  • Oversees and/or supervises the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and other facilities
  • Ensures all Clubs under their supervision are operating safely, ensuring all company safety procedures, reporting, and documentation are met and communicated.
  • Leads and guides the professional development of assigned staff by performance management, coaching, and accountability.
  • Reporting, training, and other duties as assigned.

21st CCLC Specific Responsibilities

  • Directs all aspects of 21st CCLC Program Training and Reporting for the EZ Reporting system. Troubleshoots all back-end errors.
  • Responsible for interfacing with FDOE to meet the 21 APR, Surveys, SLDRT's and all previous Research and Evaluation duties.
  • Oversees operations of 21st CCLC Sites and programs with emphasis on program development and implementation; staff development; supervision of assigned Site Coordinator and other staff; and facilitates budget management. Position oversees and trains all Site Coordinators during key parts of the 21st CCLC Fiscal Year.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

  • Maintain close contact with assigned Directors, Club staff, and volunteers
  • Provide technical assistance in matters of staff development and operations

External:

  • Maintain applicable contact with club members, parents, vendors, other nonprofit organizations, external community groups, and others as required.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or a minimum of 8 years experience in non-profit and management.
  • Minimum of five years of experience is preferred in operational management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.

Required Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principals and practices of non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations; in personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key personnel; facilities management; and budget management.
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in grant management and compliance on the programmatic and administrative side.
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, multi-task, and delegate assignments to strengthen overall company performance with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Club operations with an emphasis on the safety of Club members, achievement of grant and organizational goals, and history of developing staff for advancement.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Much of the work time is conducted in an office setting. Travel is required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for long periods; bending and squatting on occasion
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to maintain high energy level when necessary
  • High degree of emotional intelligence
