Curriculum Product Specialist

IM seeks to ensure that students, particularly students who have historically been underserved, and their teachers have access to aligned, grade-level, mathematics curriculum resources, and that teachers experience professional learning that leads to enduring mathematical learning for their students.

 

The Department: The Curriculum Product Specialist is a part of the IM Product Strategy and Development department that drives the direction and success of the organization’s product strategy, roadmap, and development, aligned to IM’s vision and goals. The team develops and executes strategic plans and initiatives to meet the needs of our clients and partners by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define product requirements and develop innovative solutions that support and enhance the IM classroom experience. Critical to that experience are the team’s talented group of math educators, designers, and technologists whose highest priority is setting up students and teachers for success with coherent, standards-aligned, equity focused, problem based PreK-12 curricula and professional learning products.

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Curriculum Product Specialist who will report to the Sr. Director Product Strategy and assist in curriculum product development from inception to implementation. The successful candidate is a born collaborator who brings skills of teamwork, diplomacy, adaptability, and problem-solving to their work everyday.

Travel Requirement:  <20 percent 

 

Travel Notice: IM aims to provide employees with a minimum of two weeks' notice before requiring them to travel for the company. However, due to the specific demands of certain roles within IM, there may be instances where travel becomes necessary without the ability to provide the full two weeks' notice.

 Essential Functions/Key ResponsibilitiesFunctional Work
  • Become fluent in IM product features and ensure coherence across the product portfolio.  
  • Work with Curriculum Product Manager to create and maintain documentation and project plans at each stage of the product life cycle.
  • Help the team analyze market and user feedback and data about the curriculum to deliver feature enhancements.
  • Support product discovery, prototyping and classroom pilots to test curriculum product features.
  • Assist with the development of product checklists and other documentation that guides product development.
  • Participate in content/product discussions to ensure fidelity with the product plan.
 Teamwork
  • Collaborate with Content Development teams to execute product requirements and specifications based on product discovery.
  • Liaise with Client Success and Brand and Communications teams to develop effective product positioning and messaging.
 Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Proven experience in PK-12 educational publishing, educational technology, or related industry.
  • Experience with developing PK-12 curriculum products.
  • Strong understanding of the PK-12 education space and instructional practices.
  • Experience using content management systems and PK-12 learning management systems.
  • A track record of working collaboratively and effectively with cross functional teams to oversee delivery of product solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to seeking and listening to feedback that encourages  growth, surfaces blindspots, and recognizes and disrupts patterns of inequity.
  • Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a highly collaborative team to meet departmental and organizational goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to learn and grow in an organization that is expanding its reach and impact.
  • Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.


 Preferred Qualifications  
  • Experience as a PK-12 educator
  • Basic knowledge of product management
  • Background in curriculum development
  • Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Zoom, and Slack
 Compensation and Benefits

In alignment with our commitment to equity in practice and policy, Illustrative Mathematics is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education. This position is exempt. The annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000.
