WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Consumer Fraud Unit is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and discerning employee to oversee an an exciting new consumer Mediation Program. The position will serve as an intermediary between consumers and businesses to resolve consumer complaints about businesses, work toward recouping value for consumers, and identify ongoing consumer protection violations. The Consumer Mediation Coordinator will conduct informal, voluntary mediations by communicating with the business and consumer primarily via email, and by telephone when necessary, to facilitate resolution of the complaint.
The Consumer Mediation Coordinator will work independently to conduct mediations, administer and develop the program, and work with leadership and data analytics staff to identify subjects for potential investigation and enforcement by Consumer Fraud attorneys. Although the position will work closely with Consumer Fraud leadership and the Department of Law's Consumer Engagement and Data Services Unit, the position requires a high degree of self-driven independence, organization, and sound judgment.
This is a term-limited position that is expected to last no more than 24 months from the hire date. The successful candidate will be required to waive rights under the state personnel system.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
OR
Four years of full-time experience that demonstrates your ability to effectively manage disputes or other sensitive interactions between other employees or outside parties OR your ability to serve as an intermediary communication with parties with differing points of view
OR
A combination of work experience professional communication with customers, clients, vendors, or other parties, or managing disputes or other sensitive interactions between other employees or outside parties AND college course work from an accredited institution totaling four years of full time work experience/education.
Transcripts must be provided to document college coursework.

Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution, such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.
Conditions of Employment:
+ Applicants must pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment. + Effective August 15, 2022, this position will require documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. New employees will be required to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination within three (3) business days of hire.
