Job Description

Position Summary

The Vice President Logistics is responsible for leading the warehouse direct logistics team to top-tier supply chain performance, winning and leading with customers. This executive will work at the highest level with their peers to establish the Company as one of the top performing warehouse supply chains in the industry. Specifically, the role is responsible for all logistics strategy, and distribution operations planning. Most importantly, this executive must understand and have the ability to drive transformation through this function. This executive will be charged with creating one, common, high-performing supply chain across the direct warehouse networks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to deliver the highest service level, lowest cost and value-added services to their customers in the industry.
  • Lead and be responsible for execution excellence in Distribution & Logistics.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the business as it relates to overall warehousing strategy, organizational structure, organizational design, and long-term vision.
  • Develop, maintain and report performance against key service metrics internally and externally.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the appropriate business locations on emerging logistic issues.
  • Deliver against financial targets and budgets.
  • Manage capital budgets effectively.
  • Create efficiencies and leverage distribution costs, ensure high service levels
  • Develop and manage 3PL partners as appropriate. Ensure distribution operations are effectively managed by maximizing the utilization of all available resources.
  • Plan, build, maintain and improve distribution tools (facilities, processes, equipment, and systems) to continually improve service excellence.
  • Create improved accuracy and forward visibility that save costs while improving availability and flow of product.
  • Interface with key vendors and customers to ensure effective visibility to the supply chain strategy and builds and maintains strong working partnerships to maximize direct product availability through the company’s distribution network.
  • Establish critical performance metrics in the Distribution & Logistics organization, proactively resolve problems, introduces best practices and fosters positive change as required
  • Confront complex operational issues, determine solutions, and motivate staff to implement changes on a timely basis.
  • Develop accelerated growth by driving operational efficiencies, and initiatives, developing new products and driving quality improvements.
  • Directly responsible for the performance management, engagement and career development of direct staff. Works with senior leaders to ensure that all employee activities are consistent with policies.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, operations management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience at large consumer, distribution or retail companies in supply chain leadership roles focusing on distribution and logistics.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED):

  • Graduate-level degree in manufacturing, operations management, engineering or business administration (MBA) is highly desired.

  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate concepts effectively at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, the ability to generate enthusiasm and build effective working relationships at all levels
