Associate Linux System Administrator

As an Associate System Administrator, you will be part of the team responsible for building and maintaining a robust environment to support our proprietary applications running on and interacting with our Redhat Linux platform. Working directly with internal and external customers, you will have an opportunity to build and support our servers in an Azure Cloud infrastructure, support the underlying database, configure cross network printing and maintain network connectivity. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a strong desire to learn to begin your System Administrator career.
This position may be fully remote or hybrid based in our Baltimore, MD office and availability to work off hours as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist other System Administrators to install new / rebuild existing servers and configure peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled job such as backups
- Provide system support for our customers
- Assist other System Administrators to apply Operating System patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities; Configure / add new services as necessary
- Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot technical issues
- Monitor system performance and assure we are reaching optimal results
- Take initiative and ownership of tasks and drive them to successful completion
- Keep current with technology and recommend and plan changes as needed
Requirements
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Strong initiative with a desire to learn
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of Linux, with expectation to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
- Exposure to programming languages a strong plus
- Windows experiences a plus
- Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
