About Magari

Magari is one of Hollywood’s most anticipated new restaurant openings, featuring Tokyo Italian cuisine from the owners of Ozumo, the legendary contemporary Japanese restaurant in San Francisco. Magari’s culinary team, comprised of Chef Partner, Yoshiyuki Okuno, of Tokyo’s Michelin-acclaimed La-Brianza restaurants, Sicilian-born Executive Chef Enrico Merendino, formerly of CARA, and Chef Consultant Tony Messina, the 2019 James Beard Award-winning chef of UNI in Boston, have come together to create a unique menu featuring coastal Italian cuisine with Japanese ingredients and technique. Magari will offer a selection of crudos, house made pastas, and signature dishes from our wood fired grill. The space includes a large bar area and spacious outdoor seating, ideal for enjoying refreshing cocktails, coastal Italian wines, and a quick bite. Located at 6115 Sunset Blvd, Magari will serve lunch and dinner, Monday through Sunday.

Duties:

  • Concept and menu creation

  • Designing recipes to include costing, plate presentation in addition to ongoing menu development

  • Implement and uphold standards & systems with daily food preparation

  • Ensuring quality control & consistency with all food prep activities before, during and after service

  • Hiring, training, scheduling and management of all pastry team members

  • Review performance and provide mentorship of culinary staff to encourage highest standards of communication, consistency, and execution

  • Coordinating culinary staff tasks, including opening & closing duties, prep-list execution, station set-up and maintenance and cleaning

  • Implementing cleaning/sanitation policies for culinary space and equipment.

  • Performing administrative tasks including but not limited to inventory, culinary payroll, ordering and maintaining vendor relationships

  • Overseeing maintenance and functionality of equipment in kitchen facilities

  • Work with company leadership to inform planning of monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts of food COGS

  • Control and maintain appropriate levels of expense as it relates to food and culinary operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in similar position

  • Strong understanding of back of house systems, ordering and inventory

  • Previous leadership experience in a unionized environment

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines

  • Available to work late hours, over weekends and on public holidays

  • Certified for food protection in CA by applicable authority

  • Ability to interact with customers, coworkers, and management in positive, supportive, cooperative ways.
