POSITION: Receptionist – Central Office
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Performs complex administrative and secretarial assistance of a confidential and responsible nature requiring knowledge of internal, district wide systems and procedures related to schools. Provides excellent customer service experiences for families, community members, and staff.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Resolve issues by clarifying the customer’s complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting, and explaining the best solution to problem-solve,
expediting critical issues, and following up to ensure resolution.
2. Keep thorough records of customer interactions and support tickets.
3. Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
4. Greet customers warmly and ascertain problems or reason for calling.
5. Provide callers with requested information and connect callers to appropriate internal departments/staff.
6. Assist with the upkeep of the district’s knowledge base of frequently asked questions and solutions.
7. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or GED required. Additional college credits, preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ working in a school/central office environment.
3. Thorough knowledge of customer service practices and procedures.
4. Experience using a helpdesk or customer service ticketing system, preferred.
5. Highly proficient in the use of modern office equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
6. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
7. Ability to maintain variety of clerical and administrative records.
8. Must have good evaluations and attendance record.
9. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff.
10. Ability to exercise tact and courtesy communicating both in person and on the telephone.
11. Ability to periodically work and extended and/or flexible schedule to meet the demands of the district.
12. Bilingual preferred.

Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of School Secretaries, 2017-2018 Salary Grid (090-12), $35,547- $47,685. Twelve-month work year.
