LOCATION

Either hybrid in our Bellevue, WA, headquarters or remote work are available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

WHO YOU ARE

You are self-motivated and skilled creator at crafting high-quality instructional content. Responsible for using computer software and other technologies to streamline education courses for students and professionals, you are also comfortable consulting with subject matter experts to determine efficiency for course designs, transferring courses into online formats and creating course materials for instructors or professionals to use. Writing about technical concepts comes naturally for you. You care about being accurate with what you write and how you write it. You often find yourself wondering about the technical intricacies of how stuff works and enjoy collaborating with others to research technical topics. You enjoy telling people about cool stuff you've learned and are excited to share it with them. You're good at explaining complicated topics to people and creating content in ways they can understand. You’ve acquired advanced technical-level knowledge of BarTender features and capabilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Define and document learning objectives.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject experts.
  • Create instructional material: courses, curriculum, student guides or training manuals.
  • Design content to optimize learning.
  • Generate the layout of the learning supports.
  • Redesign content to ensure it matches the learner’s needs.
  • Create visual, audio and interactive learning tools.
  • Create, collaborate on, and publish professional, user-friendly, and rich technical content (e.g. reference articles, tutorials, videos, graphics, translations) for our product knowledge base and support site.
  • Update, organize, manage, and maintain existing technical content on our product knowledge base and support site.
  • Peer-review, copy edit, and provide feedback on content developed by other members of the team.
  • Acquire and maintain a deep technical-level understanding of Seagull Scientific’s products to effectively produce content tailored to the needs of customers and peers.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and management to research and develop technical content in a form that is easy to follow and understand.
  • One of your core responsibilities will consist in pioneering technical content for BarTender Cloud.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an instructional design specialist.
  • Research and learn about unfamiliar technical topics and technologies quickly, identifying both the key details and any important information that you will need to create technical content for our product knowledge base and support site.
  • Knowledge of Windows and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS)
  • Understanding of graphic design best practices
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with authoring tools such as Articulate360
  • Experience with video production tools such as Camtasia
  • Familiarity with course management systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
  • Ability to successfully collaborate on teams, interact with different departments, and subject matter experts.
  • Attention to detail is essential to ensure content is produced at its highest level of quality.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively and work with a high level of independence and efficiency.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with a command of English at the same level as a native speaker.
  • Ability for explaining complex, technical concepts in a concise way that both novices and experts can understand.
  • Ability to create and structure content and break it down in a logical way that makes it easy to digest.

OPTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sharing a link to your portfolio or examples of your work.
  • General understanding of HTML and CSS. Additional scripting or programming knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with workflow processes related to media production.
  • Able to communicate natively in another Tier 1 language, and capable of translating content into that language.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Instructional Design, Educational Technology is preferred, but not required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Compensation for this full-time, exempt job is an annual base salary between $66,000 – $101,000, with the potential for an annual discretionary bonus.
