Assistant Chief Engineer

As Assistant Chief Engineer at the Embassy Suites Chicago Naperville, you would be responsible for supervising a team of engineers, performing the duties of an engineer and ensuring the proper maintenance of the physical functionality of the facility, including guest rooms, public space, and heart-of-the-house areas. Coordinates and ensures completion of work assignments, orders materials, maintains equipment and manages product inventory.

The ideal candidate will have related hotel maintenance experience, a positive can-do attitude, passion for service and creativity with superior written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills:

• 5+ years Hotel Maintenance Leadership Experience
• OnQ Experience
• Strong knowledge of maintenance service standards, and service expectations (Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, Structural, Work Orders, Guest Requests, Guest Complaint Procedures, etc.)

Essential Responsibilities:

• Administering programs involving electrical, mechanical and general construction, repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment, operation of plant utilities and systems.

• Assigns and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility.
• Visually inspects quality of work and directs staff and outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity standards
• Inspects for conditional concerns in the guest rooms, public areas, banquet facilities, and back of the house; ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, health/sanitation standards and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
• Issue assignments to staff reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the maintenance operation.
• Issue supplies/goods to staff at beginning of shift in order to control inventory and ensure proper supplies are available while controlling expenses.
• Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Develop & Implement emergency training and procedures to ensure appropriate protection of the hotel, guests, staff and company assets.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
