Job Description
Title: Regional Technology Coordinator I

Position Summary:
The role of the Regional Technology Coordinator I (RTC I) is to ensure optimal performance of regional and school information technology systems. To ensure the operations are in alignment with Imagine Schools and school best practices. The RTC I will provide technical guidance to school-based IT staff and/or vendors on the operations and maintenance of school networks, including needs analysis, order procurement, problem solving, disaster recovery plans, and security.

The RTC I will coordinate with the Imagine Schools National technology team to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions in line with the organization’s mission and vision.

This position will serve Ohio schools. The incumbent will travel, as required, to schools to implement technology solutions; support onsite technology personnel, school leaders, school staff, and school students.

This person will participate in defining and implementing technology policies, procedures, and best practices for schools.
Responsibilities include:
  • Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
  • Assists with planning the installation of computers, network equipment, user applications (e.g. e-mail, Internet applications, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the technology needs of the school and region.
  • Oversees the installation of computer and network equipment (e.g. VoIP Phone systems, file servers, routers, printers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective computer labs and networks.
  • Coordinates with users and other network/computer support staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Drafts documentation, user guides, manuals, etc. for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Evaluates hardware and software applications for the network environment both in use and potential acquisition for the purpose of recommending changes that would provide an improved capability to support school and region needs.
  • Oversees computer and network equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree, Microsoft MCSE certification or other additional Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience in network administration, server administration and workstation management. Working in an educational environment a plus.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Web browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari, security fundamentals, and firewall fundamentals. Knowledge of processes and procedures involved in diagnosing and resolving server/workstation issues in a client/server environment.

Familiarity with the following hardware environments:
Ubiquiti networks, Dell, HP, Apple Mac, storage, backup. 3cx and other types of phone equipment a plus, Content filtering systems with AD interaction. Knowledge of Ethernet and structured cabling. Analytical skills to determine the source of problems and suggest ideas to eliminate recurring problems. Oral and written communication skills to communicate with others of varying technical abilities at all levels. Ability to act individually and as a team member in resolving problems and completing projects, Customer service attitude with a positive and helpful attitude sufficient to deal with users who are often frustrated and upset. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Must have the ability to follow oral and written direction as they relate to the functions described above. Must be able to interact effectively with end users to determine hardware and/or software issues as described above.
