Restaurant Manger Job Expectations:

The Restaurant Manager will focus on leading, supervising and improving Front of House service for The Portico by Jeffrey Thompson, the S/T Bistro, Room Service, Pool F&B offerings and Special events. This position requires flexibility and a wide range of hospitality, service and business acumen. This person actively embodies, inspires and teaches skills that will elevate the core values of Wheatleigh. This role will assist the leadership team in creating, implementing and sustaining the culture of luxury hospitality for our employees as well as the guests. This role is expected to be present and actively managing the services they are working during their shift. All administrative or office duties must be completed outside of active meal periods unless otherwise approved by upper management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Hospitality & Guest Services:

·       Ensure that all guests and team members feel welcome and are given friendly, responsive, efficient and courteous service at all times. 

·       Create and maintain a customer-driven hotel that inspires employees to do their best. Oversee the quality process to ensure customer satisfaction by consistent delivery of both product quality and service.

·       Oversee training and ongoing supervision of the restaurant team to ensure we constantly exceed our Forbes 5-Star standard.

·       Provide all guidance and information to employees and guests and answer any questions with enthusiasm.

·       Handle all guest complaints with extreme knowledge, grace and elegancy.

·       Operate all assigned aspects of the hotel on a daily basis with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, integrity, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion and courtesy.

·       Maintain a constant knowledge of industry trends, new techniques/methods/equipment that will improve the overall operation of the restaurant.

·       When staffing shortages present themselves, the Restaurant Manager is expected to fill this void.

·       Oversee proper timing and execution of restaurant service to ensure a natural and elegant flow.

·       Coordinate with the Executive Chef for all special menus and menu changes.  

o  Updating lightspeed, staff training, and administering menu knowledge tests.

 

Managing Expenses and Revenue:

·       Implement and adhere to a preventive maintenance program.

·       Preparation and presentation of monthly financial reporting.

·       Payroll preparation for your department as well as efficient management of department OT.

·       Manage expenses efficiently/cost effectively

·       Develop improvement actions to carry out costs savings.

·       Ensure that all reporting requirements of the owners are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

·       Achieve stated objectives in outstanding guest service, guest experience and overall hospitality, employee satisfaction, sales, expenses, financial success and owner relations.

·       Safeguard quality of operations (internal and external audits)

·       Oversight of beverage C.O.G.’s and inventory.

·       Maintain proper par levels for equipment & restaurant supplies.

·       Responsible for oversight of Large Parties as well as F&B events.

o  Including Planning, Specialty menu creation, ensuring proper staffing levels.

·       Support efforts for budgeted goal achievement.

·       Consistently provide new revenue generating recommendations to drive profitability.

·       Proactively manage the reservation book (and any systems associated).

Training and Development of Team:

·       Identify training gaps and provide ongoing education.

·       Develop an onboarding schedule and plan that aligns with Forbes/LQA and AAA standards.

·       Advise, create and implement Standard Operating Procedures as required.

·       Execution of performance reviews and training of staff.

·       Determine the workforce strategies, recruitment, hiring of all new staff, employee relations and disciplinary events.

 

Public Relations with Brand:

·       Maintain a strong presence in community public affairs and with local businesses

·       Maintain daily visible presence in all public spaces

·       Meet/greet all top repeat customers as needed; ensure VIP’s are welcomed and called on during their stay while creating anticipatory service moments for all guests.

·       Maintain a positive work environment including all departments of the hotel that will project a constant positive image about the property and company

·       Assist in keeping Wheatleigh’s web presence up to date and on trend with industry standards.

 

Leadership:

·       Understands the government regulations affecting the hotel’s operations, ensuring the hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state or municipal authority.

·       Tour and visually inspect property on a daily basis. Monitor property condition, cleanliness, cost control and quality product and service throughout hotel.

·       Lead various internal and external meetings

·       Properly schedule department based on guest and operational needs.

·       Provide hotel leadership coverage for the property.

·       Act as a Liaison between F&B and other departments.

·       Coordinate with the Front office for daily reports and arrival meetings.

 

Requirements:

Specialized Experience and Knowledge:

·       Bachelor of Science Degree, Hospitality Management preferred.

·       Past Forbes or Michelin experience required.

·       At least 5 years’ experience within the hotel industry in Hotel Management.

·       Tips Certification required

·       ServSafe Manager preferred

·       Must have open availability including Nights (closing), weekends and Holidays.

 

Skills: 

·       Proficiency in Word, and Excel

·       Experience with hotel operation systems

·       Skillful in project planning/tasks, budgeting and able to prioritize and multi-task projects

·       Self-starter able to work creatively.

·       Emergency response including but not limited to CPR, AED, and choking response.

·       Past Lightspeed experience preferred.

·       Talented and dynamic person who is able to energize the entire property team with an enthusiastic attitude for hospitality. 

·       Proactive and result driven.

·       Team play and a hands-on approach to the daily needs of the hotel

·       Accountable and self-motivated
