WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Director, Solutions Group leads a high-performing team that bridges sales, and production by architecting and defining profitable solutions for complex projects. They are responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and development of a cross-functional team consisting of Sales Engineers, Solutions Engineers, Estimators, Draftsmen, and a Sales Operations Specialist. This individual will drive collaboration across departments, optimize workflow processes, and ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality solutions that align with client expectations and internal capabilities.
The Director will maintain operational excellence across estimating, pre-sales engineering, RFP development, and experiential planning, serving as a key liaison between sales, design, production, and install teams. They will support in driving department strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy
- Direct oversight of Solutions Group team members.
- Mentor and develop team members to increase team efficiency and reduce rework.
- Own the development, documentation, and delivery of training programs on estimating practices and solution development for the Solutions and Project Management teams, ensuring all new and existing team members are proficient in core processes promptly after onboarding.
- Establish a knowledge transfer framework to reduce single-point expertise and improve team-wide consistency and quality.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and team development efforts that drive measurable gains in speed, complexity handling, and output quality across the team. Ensure feedback leads to clear performance improvement.
- Ensure team goals align with department and company objectives.
Execution, Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Ensure scoped project deliverables are completed on time and meet client requirements.
- Maintain a high accuracy rate in resource planning forecasts tied to project needs and opportunity qualification.
- Monitor and manage team workload, ensuring balanced assignments and clear priorities.
- Minimize errors in technical documentation and proposals delivered to downstream teams (Project Management, Production).
- Maintain a high on-time rate for proposal and estimate submissions, with no major revisions required by downstream departments.
- Ensure all approved projects include completed documentation checklists and handoff protocols before moving into production.
- Ensure cross-functional kickoff and alignment meetings occur for all projects, events, or complex fabrication/install requirements.
- Participate in departmental improvement initiatives and lead project postmortem reviews for lessons learned.
- Submit regular dashboard updates on team KPIs including turnaround times, rework rates, and solution quality indicators.
- Embed SOPs, checklists, and onboarding materials to standardize practices.
- Work with Contracts Manager to ensure all scope documents are reviewed for contractual alignment before being submitted to clients.
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in project management within large-format print, custom fabrication, live event production, and signage.
- 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Knowledge of fabrication, large-format print production, and installation methods.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings, estimates, and proposal packages.
- Strong operational acumen with experience in budgeting, and resource planning.
