Position Purpose
Coordinate the education and training of students to gain skills, knowledge and behaviors required to successfully complete the curriculum and support their successful entry into the workplace; ensure accreditation requirements are met for the program.
Essential Functions
  1. Customarily and regularly manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of Tulsa Tech, including directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for promotion and termination actions and hiring as appropriate.
  2. Supervise the Instruction of students in program curriculum assuring current instructional strategies (classroom, lab, clinical, etc.) appropriate to subject matter are utilized.
  3. Develop, write and modify curriculum in accordance with industry guidelines and work with the instructional staff to ensure all accreditation standards are met.
  4. Evaluate students on a recurrent basis to provide timely indications of student's progress toward competencies and knowledge required for successful completion of program and the effectiveness of the educational program and curriculum.
  5. Provide academic, personal and behavioral counseling and counseling referrals to students to support their successful completion of program requirements.
  6. Develop materials to enhance internal and external customer awareness of the Surgical Technology program and encourage continued maximum enrollment levels.
  7. Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by District policy and certification agencies.
  8. Develop and maintain community/business contacts and participate with industry advisory committee.
  9. Perform all other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements:
  • Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years. Documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning preferred.
  • Verification of immunization vaccines and tests recommended by Center for Disease Control for Healthcare Workers.
  • Valid State Issued Driver's License
  • Bilingual is a plus

Education:
  • Associate degree required; concentration in surgical technology preferred. Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of a surgical technology program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency is required.
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a nation certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

Salary Schedule:
SPMS
Hiring Range:
$63,276 to $80,796 dependent on experience, plus additional $9,600 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
