Job Description

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director of Marketing for Primary Care and Clinical Services responsible for reputation and growth brand marketing strategies for multiple clinical service lines at UChicago Medicine. This position is based out of our Hyde Park campus in Chicago, IL with remote work flexibility and some travel to local ambulatory facilities required.

 

The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the annual development and execution of comprehensive, integrated marketing plans for Service Lines/Clinical Services, Physician Enterprise, Care Network, Ambulatory Services and Primary Care across the system, as well as strategic clinical partnerships with external healthcare institutions. The Director works in close collaboration with leadership and partners in other business areas to create marketing strategies. In this role, you will work closely with Marketing and Communications peers to develop marketing and growth strategies for both the clinical and research missions of the UChicago Medicine health system and the Biological Sciences Division (BSD). You will ensure all marketing efforts are in alignment with organizational strategies and direct the work of staff and vendors in completion of various projects, including advertising, media, e-mail marketing, social media platforms, outreach support materials, and other support materials.

 

Who you are:

A collaborative and analytical marketing leader with excellent organization, project management, and communication skills and:

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, business or relevant area.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (8-10) years professional experience and advanced knowledge in the field with proven success in brand management and marketing in healthcare.
  • Hospital or academic medical center experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will also have experience specific to primary care and ambulatory services marketing.
  • Marketing experience with both print and digital media.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive management experience including supervision of professional exempt level staff and/or outside contracted resources and external vendors.
  • Experience with market research techniques and return on investment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to various levels within the organization.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience disseminating concise, accurate and timely information to all internal and external audiences.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills.

What you'll do as the Director of Marketing for Primary Care and Clinical Services at UChicago Medicine: 

  • Develop and execute annual plans to grow UChicago Medicine health system integrated business volumes, reputation and research initiatives across the system (including Ingalls Memorial).
  • Perform annual assessment with area leaders, Service Line leaders and Marketing Department senior leaders regarding market changes, priority setting, and programmatic goals.
  • Work with Service Line Administration, Referral Development, Communications, Web Strategy, and others to coordinate development and execution of plans.
  • Develop and manage the execution of various projects, including advertising, newsletters, web content, and support materials for Service Lines/Clinical Services, Physician Relations, Outreach, and Philanthropy.
  • Partner with the Executive Director of Communications and Content Strategy, and the media relations team in proactive earned media placements to support the reputation of our clinical service lines.
  • Direct and manage the development and execution of content to support the annual marketing and communications plan.
  • Create scorecard of activity and measure return on investment and communicate those results to leadership on a monthly basis.
  • Make recommendations for hospital-based sponsorships and events as they relate to assigned clinical areas and organizational priorities and initiatives.
  • Create a positive work environment to foster teamwork throughout the department.
  • Lead process improvement of the division.
  • Develop and monitor budgets.
  • Show great leadership in directing and engaging staff.
  • Ensure high standards for customer service.

Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process.
