ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER AGM Calgary, AB (Full Time) LIVING WAGE! YOUR MISSION Working closely with the managing partner, the AGM is responsible for all aspects of daily operations to deliver a 5-Star experience to every guest and team member. You’ll seamlessly coordinate the front and back of the house, lead the team, and live the brand in everything you do. WHO YOU ARE - KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES * You have a thorough knowledge of all bar techniques. * You possess a strong working knowledge of professional terminology, techniques and preparation procedures (i.e. portion control, menu development, scheduling, budgets) * You’re knowledgeable about and have the ability to train and enforce food sanitation and safety requirements and policies. * You’re Food safety and Pro Server trained/certified * You have a keen ability to work quickly and efficiently so you can coordinate and lead all preparation efforts to produce exemplary products in a timely manner. * You’re a leader. You can manage and develop a cohesive, top-performing and engaged team. * You have an excellent work ethic, great judgment and top-notch positive attitude * You’re a great communicator - you’re patient, tactful and courteous in all of your dealings, whether internally with the team, or externally with vendors, partners and guests WHAT YOU BRING * You have 2-3 years experience managing a FOH / BOH team and all operations in a full-service restaurant, catering, or similar. * You have proven wins in your experience managing, motivating and developing a full restaurant team. * You have experience in developing innovative, creative cocktails and menus using local, fresh ingredients. * You have a current Drivers License * You can reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. You can move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance. * You can stand for prolonged periods * You’re able to work long hours, as needed in our seasonally driven business A DAY IN THE LIFE - YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Working with the Managing Partner to determine your goals, responsibilities * Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations * Deliver superior 5 Star customer service and maximize customer satisfaction * Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints * Marketing, recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads) * Lead a top-performing and engaged team * Regularly review product quality and research new vendors * Estimate future needs for goods, BOH & FOH utensils and cleaning products * Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations * Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it * Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste * Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses * Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events * Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations * Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages. (as per AGLC law) * Leads by example in working with the crew to accommodate changes, shifting priorities with seamless coordination and professionalism. * Achieves budget expectations through active revenue enhancement and cost control; maintains accurate accounting of expenses, ingredient use and outages/waste. * Passionately and continually seeks ways to assist in improvement of Taiko and Zilford’s product, service and overall operations.
