Job Summary and Qualifications

This position is responsible for coordinating the daily activities and functions of the credentialing and privileging component of the medical staff services department. Responsibilities include accreditation compliance, credentialing, privileging, Medical Staff committee support, and policy and procedure compliance. This position monitors the latest regulatory standards and ensures compliance. Responsibilities have a direct and significant impact on hospital accreditation, performance improvement, and patient care. This position interacts professionally with medical staff leadership and facilitates communication between medical staff, hospital staff, clinical directors, and administration. Hospital departments rely on this position to assist in ensuring that the medical staff complies with various policies and regulatory standards.  

  
  • You will coordinate an assigned portion of the daily credentialing and privileging functions of the medical staff services department.
  • You will assist with development of policies and procedures related to the functions of the department.
  • You will manage documentation systems for medical staff files.
  • You will maintain and distribute the master medical staff calendar of meetings.
  • You will maintain Physician ID Badge security access system.
  • You will prepare monthly Emergency Room Call schedules by collecting schedules, entering them into applicable on-call system, faxing them to assigned physicians and distributing to the Emergency Department. You will revise and redistribute as needed throughout the month.

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of previous credentialing experience or one educational internship in medical staff credentialing

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, health information management or healthcare administration – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Provider Credentials Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) – preferred
