Job description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting activities for plant operations in Princeton, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage monthly close tasks, interpret operational impacts on financial results, and help maintain accurate reporting in a deadline-driven environment. The role offers an opportunity to work cross-functionally with operations teams while contributing to reliable financial oversight and process execution.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting support for plant-related financial activity and help ensure timely, accurate period-end reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close cycle while maintaining supporting documentation.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Partner with plant operations personnel to evaluate business events and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
• Produce financial reporting and analysis related to generation accounting and communicate findings to stakeholders as needed.
• Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations to strengthen the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
• Contribute to special assignments and ad hoc projects that support the accounting function and broader business objectives.
• Meet established close deadlines in a fast-paced setting, including occasional overtime or non-standard hours when required.• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
• At least 7 years of accounting experience, including hands-on work with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Excel, including advanced functions such as lookups and pivot tables.
• Experience using accounting or ERP platforms such as Dynamics AX, SAP, or similar reporting systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at different organizational levels.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative, fast-moving team environment.
