CPA Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager
Our client is seeking a seasoned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager with deep nonprofit expertise to lead and oversee core accounting functions for a mission‑driven organization. This is a senior accounting role with meaningful leadership responsibility, providing high‑level financial insight to executive leadership and the Board of Directors while ensuring strong compliance, internal controls, and operational excellence. This position is based in person at the organization’s Arlington, VA headquarters.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager
- Lead preparation and review of accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Oversee general ledger operations and manage month‑end and year‑end close
- Manage and optimize fund accounting, including restricted and multi‑year grant funds
- Ensure compliance with IRS requirements, including preparation and review of Form 990

- Oversee grant accounting, compliance, and reporting across multiple funding sources
- Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls, policies, and procedures
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager
- Active CPA license or in process
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant nonprofit experience
- Strong expertise in fund accounting, grant compliance, and nonprofit financial reporting
