Senior Accountant – Construction Industry

Omaha, NE (In-Office)

A growing construction-related organization in the Omaha metro area is seeking a Senior Accountant to help oversee financial operations and support leadership with reporting, cost analysis, and strategic insights. This role works closely with company leadership and project managers to ensure strong financial performance and accurate project costing.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, thrives in a dynamic environment, and enjoys building processes that help teams operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage All GAAP and Financial reporting
  • Support month-end close, including cost accounting and journal entries
  • Maintain job cost systems, including cost codes, change orders, and purchase orders
  • Enter and maintain project financial data and support reporting for project managers
  • Handle progress billing and intercompany transactions
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Analyze invoices, expenses, and project costs to identify opportunities for cost control
  • Prepare financial reports and assist leadership with financial analysis and forecasting
  • Manage filings and payroll taxes
  • Request and track invoices from subcontractors and vendors
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoice and payment status
  • Assist with year-end tax preparation
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in construction or project-based accounting
