Job description

Position: Senior Accounting Analyst
Location: Holland, MI
Reports to: : Corporate Accounting Manager
Position Summary:
The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for providing general accounting support, including but not limited to the preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end closing activities, and performing variance analysis. The Senior Accounting Analyst is also responsible for the creation of the financial statements for the annual audit and coordination with the external auditors. This role requires effective communication at all levels including cross functionally within the business. The ideal candidate for this position has a strategic continuous improvement mindset and is someone who can step out of the everyday details to identify issues and areas for improvement, develop efficiencies and processes, and improve reporting. This position will report into the Senior Manager, Accounting and Reporting.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the monthly close process, including preliminary review of financial statements, preparation and posting of journal entries, and explanation of variances.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of the financial statements and coordinating with the external auditors and providing supporting documentation.
  • Analyze and reconcile various general ledger accounts monthly and in accordance with the monthly close calendar.
  • Analyze and implement new accounting standards in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and assist in the development of accounting policies
  • Maintain procedures to comply with internal control requirements and identify process improvements and efficiencies
  • Assist plants and other departments with various topics and issues as they arise and mentor finance personnel.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset across all company processes.
  • Assist with preparation and presentation of quarterly financial updates for plant and segment finance.
  • Assist with overall maintenance of financial systems and software and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Minimum Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (master’s degree, MBA preferred), CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (public accounting experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills, including knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Automotive or manufacturing industry experience a plus
  • ERP system experience required; Plex, OneStream experience a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work across all departments and vertically at all levels of the organization.
