Job description

Are you an accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Accounting team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Under direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst is responsible for independently handling complex, multi-year, and difficult assignments in support of Federal Unit management. The primary responsibility is the completion of state and federal financial statements and reports.
The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. Please note that the salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect these reductions associated with the 2025 Personal Leave Program.

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Standard office environment that involves sitting most of the time but involves walking or standing for brief periods. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Time off may not be granted during the year-end Financial Statement period and Federal grant closing periods. Required to attend offsite meetings using private or public transportation, or other means of transportation such as walking between locations.
