Job description

Are you an accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Accounting Services Branch as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). Under direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing and supporting complex accounting functions related to the Travel and Office Revolving Fund (ORF) Team. Duties include processing and reconciling travel and ORF transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with state policies using systems such as Financial Information for California (FI$Cal) & California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS). The position is also responsible for policy development and leads California Department Fish and Wildlife trainings and guidance to departmental travelers.
The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. Please note that the salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect these reductions associated with the 2025 Personal Leave Program.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Employees are currently required to work in-person at least two (2) days per week. Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone. Standard office environment. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Required to attend offsite meetings via private or public transportation. Overtime required and limited time-off during the year-end Financial Statement period. This position offers the possibility of a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.
