The purpose of this position is to maintain the integrity of the organization’s financial records with an emphasis on grant reporting, maintain account reconciliations, assist with preparation of Federal (Department of Labor) reporting and cash management, prepare materials for GAAP, Federal and Donor audits, and work on special projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep knowledge of the organization’s financial operations and contribute to the development of improved internal operational procedures.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations

  • Prepare journal entries for month-end close

  • Communicate with various program managers and program staff on financial reporting related inquires

  • Analyze grant contracts for proper GAAP restriction accounting treatment under ASC 958

  • Prepare workpapers and other materials for year end GAAP audit and annual federal monitoring audits

  • Assist Controller with cash management and tracking of Federal grant expenditures

  • Review AP bills for proper project code and account classification for proper accounting treatment

  • Work on special projects and ad hoc reporting as required within the financial reporting department

  • Work as an accounting team member to accomplish the Association and Foundations’ goals


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA a plus

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, not-for-profit accounting experience preferred

  • Experience using NetSuite preferred, but not required

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Ability to learn computer software quickly

  • Ability to work independently on complex accounting projects

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including strong business writing skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work records
