Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Power Transmission & Distribution to lead complex power delivery projects for utility, municipal, and energy-sector clients. This senior-level role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in engineering consulting and/or power transmission and distribution companies, and a proven ability to manage projects from concept through construction.
The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project execution, including scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client coordination, while working collaboratively with engineering, project controls, and field teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
Serve as Project Manager for power transmission and distribution projects, including:
Overhead and underground transmission lines
Substation upgrades and new substations
Distribution system improvements and expansions
Grid modernization and resiliency programs
Manage the full project lifecycle from planning and design through construction and closeout.
Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with client and contract requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary point of contact for utility, municipal, and power industry clients.
Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships.
Lead project meetings, coordinate stakeholders, and communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client interviews.
Technical Oversight & Coordination
Provide overall technical oversight while leveraging discipline leads for detailed engineering execution.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including transmission, substation, distribution, civil, structural, environmental, and permitting.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards and align with utility criteria, industry codes, and best practices.
Oversee consultant and subconsultant performance as required.
Cost, Schedule & Risk Management
Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
Coordinate with project controls staff to track cost and schedule performance.
Manage change orders, scope changes, and contract modifications.
Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.
Construction & Field Support
Support construction activities through coordination with contractors, utilities, and inspectors.
Participate in field meetings, site visits, and issue resolution.
Ensure constructability considerations, safety requirements, and design intent

Salary Range: $139,942 - $168,001
