Description
The City of Marysville is seeking a motivated individual to lead our events, aquatics, and recreational programs as the Recreation & Event Manager! This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our city through marketing, advertising, and the coordination of various recreational events and programs. As the Recreation & Event Manager, you will have the chance to lead a team, manage budgets, and work closely with the community to provide quality services and unforgettable experiences. The pay range is $65,000 - $90,000 with a robust benefits package.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and coordinate City events, including parades, Friday Nights Uptown, Music-on-Main, movies in the park, Touch-a-Truck, Merry-on-Main ice skating, and various sports/recreational leagues
- Oversee operations at the City Pool, which includes managing staff, ensuring fiscal soundness, maintaining customer safety, and overseeing payroll and daily deposits
- Build a strong team through effective recruitment, training, and professional mentorship
- Drive promotional efforts for city events and outdoor recreational programs, including marketing and public relations efforts
- Research and develop new community recreation and outdoor education programs
- Direct divisional finances and seek diverse revenue streams to support and grow city events and recreational programs
- Engage directly with local businesses and residents to ensure high-quality service delivery
Job Requirements
- High school graduate required; a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred
- Prior experience in event planning, recreation, marketing, communications, public information, or municipal government
- Three years of supervisory experience in recreation, events, or aquatics is preferred
- A valid Ohio driver's license with a good driving record is required
- Must be self-motivated and capable of multi-tasking under pressure
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Municipal or public service experience is preferred
