Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Chief Medical Officer is the lead physician responsible for providing clinical supervision of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants; and the coordination and quality of needed health services. They also manage provider productivity; serves as Chair of Professional Staff Organization; and manages the Performance Improvement Program responsible for the quality of care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

60% Clinical 40% Administrative

A. Direct patient care in accordance with needs of the Center.

B. Manage productivity and performance of medical providers.

C. Develop and implement Health Care Plan.

D. Develop protocols on the delivery of healthcare and ancillary services.

E. Manage clinical implementation of the Electronic Health Record.

F. Serves as Director of pharmacy and laboratory services.

G. Develop and monitor a centralized Nurse Telephone Triage program.

H. Coordinate with the Dental and Behavioral Health directors to integrate clinical services throughout the organization.

I. Assist the President & CEO in the recruitment and retention of clinical providers.

J. Assist the President & CEO in developing and supporting affiliations with other health care organizations.

K. Supervise all medical providers, Director of Nursing Services and EHR Support RN.

L. Perform any other duties assigned by the VP/Chief Medical Officer that are in keeping with the mission, purpose, goals and objectives of the Agency.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Performance will be evaluated by the VP/Chief Medical Officer annually using the Performance Evaluation CDB Form No. 1006c (Rev. 2/94) wherein a satisfactory overall rating is considered as a minimum acceptable level of performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Board Certified or Board Eligible in primary health care specialty. A current unrestricted license to practice of medicine in Texas.

Experience: Have at least three years’ experience of patient care management. Demonstrate past experience in a health administrative capacity.

Other: Have a strong desire to perform community health service and strongly support preventive health care. Current Texas Medical License and the level of professional standards necessary to ensure credentialing for liability coverage under the Federal Torts Claims Act.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

A. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.

B. Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.

C. Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

D. Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.

E. Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally
