Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Chef/KM with this high impact restaurant group, you will be a valuable part of the senior management team reporting to the GM and Regional Chef. Your leadership, passion and commitment to teamwork will contribute to inspiring others, ensuring you and your team live the company's common goals and objectives. This is a 'conductor's' style role whereby the successful candidate will be involved in the day to day, work closely with the food to ensure every plate goes out perfect to the guest but will not be part of a functional station unless you have not trained and developed your team! You are responsible for the team building, food quality, profitability on a weekly basis and making sure the environment is timeless.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In conjunction with the General Manager, create extraordinary food experiences from the back door to the kitchen to the finished plate to the guest
  • In conjunction with the senior team, create brand appropriate menu items including daily specials. Creativity is part of your job description
  • Hire and develop our future culinary leaders through daily coaching and training - if you can't build teams and train successful food producers then this role isn't for you
  • Coordinate all food buying for restaurant requirements and to build a successful quality 1st menu
  • Manage food cost, labor and operating expenses effectively daily and weekly via a strong numbers routine and report the results to your Director
  • Schedule staff and manage labor costs with proactive schedules
  • Leading a team of Sous Chefs and Supervisors
  • Part of building a team of front house staff and managers with the GM - food training is paramount
  • Must be well versed on Food Safety in the province of Ontario
  • Actively participate in all management meetings
  • Assist with other related functions
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 3 years as a Sous Chef or higher experience in a casual fine dining restaurant
  • Journeyman’s Cooks Papers or equivalent in practical experience is an asset
  • Experience in food costing and food safe knowledge
  • An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to guest satisfaction and our guest experience model
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, where building a rapport with a team comes naturally
  • Proficient in MS Office and Word and excel
  • Understanding of Industry business principles
  • Must be available to workdays, evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • A professional, winning attitude
