Introduction

Summary
Performs the functions of a dining server in an upscale dining atmosphere, as well as a variety of dining service functions including maintaining clean, sanitary and organized conditions of dining areas, facilities and equipment. May assist in some aspects of food preparation.
Responsibilities
1. Provide excellent customer services that promotes satisfaction and is reflective of an upscale dining experience
2. Take and serve food/beverage orders timely and appropriately that is reflective of an upscale dining experience
3. Greet customers with courtesy and friendliness, making quick decisions to address dissatisfied customers when needed
4. Know all details of the menu including description, which items contain allergens, and able to describe to guest how each items is prepared and cooked
5. Make recommendations or share additional information with customers regarding the menu
6. Have full knowledge of all drink recipes to enter into computer software 7. Serve 16 or more guests at a time; Recall orders upon request by guest
8. Check products for quality and correct any problems that may prevent a guest from enjoying their visit
9. Perform defined work routines, using various dining service utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned
10. Assist with any and all aspects for dining service set-up, including dining room and tables/placings set-up, stocking buffets and serve station, preparing beverages, salads and desserts and other food items as instructed and in accordance with recipes, and assistance at catering events.
11. Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring all foods are served at proper temperatures and on time.
12. Assist with any and all aspects of clean-up to ensure all dining service areas are maintained in accordance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning duties, busing tables, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, washing dishes, removing trash, stocking and storing items correctly and keeping all dining service work areas clean.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
1. Must have a minimum of 1 year (preferably 2 to 3 years) of waiting in a fine dining or country club venue.
2.Ability to read, understands and follows recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
3. This position will show a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
4. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
5. Ability to develop constructive working and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and customers
6. Problem solving and decision making skills
7. Service orientation and excellent organizational skills
8. Active listening and effective communication competencies
9. Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County (in accordance with County health regulations)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The Waiter/Waitress stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day, as well as reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies and equipment. The Waiter/Waitress must have an ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Must be able to withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges, dish-washing machines, and at steam tables. This employee must be free from infections or diseases. The employee must have the ability to lift and carry a 27in long tray weighing 20lb from a height of 36 inches and carry a distance of 100ft; walk continuously for ½ mile; push and/or pull a 180lb sled a distance of 20ft requiring 30lbs of force; push a wheelchair with a load of 200lbs for a distance of 100ft; push/pull 30lbs; and perform 1 full squat.
