Business Systems Analyst Lead
Location: Columbus, Ohio (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract to Perm
Rate: $50-55 an hour on Apex's W2
Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst Lead who excels at source-to-target data mapping, advanced SQL, and has an understanding of robust ETL processes and data loads into an Enterprise Data Warehouse. This role will translate regulatory and business requirements into scalable data designs and collaborate with data engineering, IT, and business teams to deliver reliable, auditable reporting.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end source-to-target mapping from banking source systems to staging, fact, and summary layers, documenting business rules, transformation logic, and lineage.
  • Maintain mapping specifications for facts and dimensions to ensure reconciliation and traceability.
  • Utilize complex SQL/PLSQL to profile data, validate transformations, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Build reusable validation queries and exception reports to support data quality controls.
  • Understand ETL jobs, including parallel frameworks, lookups, transformers, and aggregators.
  • Oversee job parameterization, restartability, scheduling, and operational monitoring with clear runbooks.
  • Investigate business problems, research system capabilities, and analyze data to support solution design.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to ensure data structures support required modules and calculations.
  • Participate in SIT/UAT, defect triage, and production readiness for reporting.
  • Work with Product, Risk/Finance SMEs, and Data Engineering to prioritize backlog and manage change requests.
  • Produce clear artifacts, including BRDs, data mapping workbooks, ETL design documents, and test plans.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in data or Business Analyst roles within banking or financial services.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
  • 3+ years of experience with ETL jobs.
  • 3+ years working with an Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering source-to-target mappings and maintaining data lineage.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate business rules into executable data transformations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with financial services analytical applications.
  • Knowledge of banking products (loans, deposits, derivatives), banking terminology, and regulatory concepts.
  • Experience with Snowflake or DataStage.
  • Familiarity with job scheduling tools and Git.
