Position Summary:

The Export Clerk prepares customs documentation and ensures that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the export of goods. This role involves processing export documentation according to customs regulations, categorizing shipments based on tariff codes, and supporting international air freight operations to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage data for domestic and international shipments.
  • Conduct audits to verify physical shipment accuracy.
  • Review and process bills of lading, invoices, and other required documents.
  • Prepare, distribute, and verify shipment documentation for compliance and accuracy.
  • Communicate with customers, agents, vendors, and shippers to resolve process issues.
  • Perform accurate data entry of cargo and shipment details into the company’s systems.
  • Coordinate export activities for international air freight, including bookings, documentation, cargo tracing, and pickups/deliveries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of international export shipments.
  • Review, analyze, and confirm international customer orders per internal guidelines.
  • Apply analytical skills for efficient shipment scheduling.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Fish & Wildlife on regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare export documents including airway bills, dock receipts, bills of lading, export declarations, and certificates of origin.
  • Follow all internal export procedures and remain compliant with export control regulations.
  • Work with freight forwarding partners and ensure best-in-class service delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection export requirements and regulations
  • Experience filing Electronic Export Information (EEI) via Automated Export System (AES)
  • Familiarity with Known Shipper management System (KSMS) and TSA Known Shipper requirements
  • Ability to prepare and review export documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, Export Letter of Instructions, certificates of origin)
  • Strong knowledge of Schedule B classification
  • Experience handling air freight shipments
  • Experience booking cargo, coordinating pickups, and managing freight movements
  • Solid understanding of Incoterms responsibilities
  • Experience handling regulated commodities
  • Experience with temporary exports (Carnets, TIB re-exports)
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in export logistics or operations.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping documentation and compliance.
  • Exceptional multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics software systems is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
