Company Description:

Island Group Enterprises (IGE) is a privately owned organization headquartered in Mineola, New York. It is comprised of seven companies specializing in chemical manufacturing and distribution for the Aerospace & Defense sectors. The organization maintains three manufacturing plants - Island Polymer Industries (IPI GmbH) in Wolfen, Germany, Island Veer Chemie (IVC) in Hyderabad, India and IGE Performance Chemicals in Mountain Top, PA. Additionally, IGE has satellite trading offices located in India, China and Brazil.


Role Description:

IGE is seeking an Import & Export Logistics Manager for a full-time, on-site role based in Mineola, NY. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end international shipping operations. This role manages import and export processes, including coordination with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely, compliant delivery of components and materials. The manager partners with internal teams such as operations, procurement, and finance to align logistics activities with production schedules and customer requirements. This role also maintains up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations, implements best practices in logistics, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain efficiency and compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review export documentation.
  • Monitor the status of orders and proactively resolve any logistical issues.
  • Ensure correct preparation of all shipping documents such as Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Invoices, Dangerous Goods Declarations and proper labeling.
  • Ensure compliance with all international trade, packaging and export regulations.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory records and tracking systems to support operational visibility.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, vendors, freight forwarders regarding order fulfillment.
  • Negotiate and coordinate with carriers to secure optimal systems and pricing.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with a strong Import & Export knowledge, including experience managing international logistics and shipment workflows.
  • Expertise in Export Documentation, with the ability to prepare, review, and maintain accurate commercial invoices, packing lists, and compliance records.
  • Expertise of International Trade, including customs regulations, HTS Codes, Incoterms, and global shipping practices.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods requirements is required. Dangerous goods certification is an advantage, but not required.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, logistics software, and standard office applications.
  • Familiarity with export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR) is an advantage.
  • Excellent Communication, organizational and analytical skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, carriers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in logistics or supply chain management within manufacturing industries is beneficial.
