Job description

Job Summary: The Export Agent will be working within the export organization. This role is responsible to process export shipments under the direct supervision of a supervisor, to process customs declarations, identify proper carriers, process shipping documents and arrange multi-modal transportation. Other responsibilities include correctly and timely processing of export shipments in a cost-efficient manner and in accordance with company standards. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive, review, and process export documentation.

• Obtain from the Shipper and accurately process Shipper’s Letter of Instructions.

• Prepare and process Airway Bills, Bill of Lading, Insurance Certificates, Certificates of Origin, Consular Documents, Shipper’s Export Declarations, and Customs Invoices.

• Process documents through the company and CBP systems.

• Meet all Company and government deadlines for processing these documents.

• Prepare and/or send advance notification of shipments and documents to banks, shippers, consignees, destination offices, as required and within Company standards.

• Arrange, book, and confirm cargo space on aircraft/vessel/truck.

• Calculate shipping rates and cargo insurance accurately.

• Truck cargo from pick up to final destination

• Close files and distribute documents in accordance with pertinent requirements and in compliance with export standards.

• Advise supervisor of any problems or irregularities discovered within assigned transactions.

• Provide excellent and timely customer service by informing clients of the status of their shipments under the direct supervision and advice of the Supervisor.

• Actively pursue a better understanding of export logistics process through self-study, as well as courses and seminars presented by the Company and other approved sources.

• Improve understanding and knowledge of the Company’s Export System, both its basic and advanced features.

• Support export department in obtaining carrier quotes and coordinate pick-up and delivery.

• Collaborate with the company warehouse personnel for warehouse receipts, pick up, noncompliance material and any other aspects directly involved in the export and transportation of merchandise.

• Be fully conversant with export laws and regulations and keep up-to-date with changes as they occur, so as to be able to advise customers on export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other customs related matters.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
