Openwork is partnering with an established international logistics company in Houston, TX to hire an experienced Ocean Export Agent. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight-forwarding professional who understands ocean export operations and is looking for a long-term career in international logistics.

We're seeking someone who can confidently manage ocean export shipments from booking through vessel departure while providing excellent customer service and maintaining accurate, compliant documentation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage ocean export shipments from booking through vessel departure
  • Coordinate bookings with ocean carriers and NVOCCs
  • Confirm sailing schedules, routing, and equipment availability
  • Track shipment milestones and resolve delays or service issues
  • Coordinate with warehouses, truckers, terminals, steamship lines, overseas offices, and customers
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts
  • Provide customers with shipment status, documentation, and scheduling updates
  • Maintain accurate shipment records in company operating systems
  • Assist with invoicing, shipment closeout, and document retention
Export Documentation

Prepare, review, and process international shipping documentation, including:

  • Bills of Lading
  • Commercial Invoices
  • Packing Lists
  • Export Declarations
  • Shipping Instructions
  • Certificates and supporting export documents

You'll also verify documentation for accuracy and ensure shipments meet customer, carrier, and destination-country requirements.

Compliance & Quality
  • Follow FMC requirements, export control procedures, and trade compliance regulations
  • Maintain complete and accurate shipment documentation
  • Follow hazardous cargo and security requirements when applicable
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Follow established company operating procedures and quality standards
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of ocean freight forwarding or international logistics experience
  • Hands-on experience managing ocean export shipments
  • Strong knowledge of ocean export documentation and international shipping procedures
  • Experience coordinating with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, truckers, terminals, and overseas offices
  • Knowledge of Incoterms
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and freight-forwarding or logistics systems
