Location: North Houston – 77073

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ocean Export Agent to manage the complete ocean export process from start to finish. This individual will be responsible for handling a full desk, ensuring the timely and accurate movement of international shipments while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational knowledge of ocean export procedures, documentation requirements, carrier relationships, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full ocean export lifecycle from booking through final delivery.
  • Coordinate export shipments with customers, overseas agents, carriers, trucking companies, warehouses, and customs brokers.
  • Prepare and process all export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, export declarations, and other required shipping documents.
  • Book cargo with ocean carriers and negotiate rates when applicable.
  • Monitor shipment milestones and proactively communicate updates, delays, and exceptions to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all international shipping regulations, trade compliance requirements, and company procedures.
  • Track and trace shipments while maintaining accurate records in the transportation management system.
  • Resolve shipment issues, discrepancies, and service failures in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage customer accounts and maintain strong relationships through proactive communication and service excellence.
  • Coordinate invoicing, billing verification, and shipment profitability.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless shipment execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of carrier schedules, service offerings, and industry developments.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of ocean export freight forwarding experience.
  • Proven ability to manage a full desk independently from booking through delivery.
  • Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and export regulations.
  • Experience working with ocean carriers, overseas agents, and customs-related processes.
  • Proficiency with freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
