SUMMARY 

The primary function of the Operations, Ocean Export is to process all ocean export shipments, coordinating the movement and monitoring while in route. The position requires handling of ocean export shipments from start to finish ensuring compliance with DSV policies as well as government regulations.   This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and will provide the highest level of customer service and quality by efficiently processing all outbound requirements before or within agreed time frames.  Direct communication with customers, overseas offices, carriers, warehouses and truckers is required.  

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

   Daily management and coordination of shipments 
   Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments
   Create, coordinate country specific documents

   Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
   Track and trace all shipments 
   Prepare and publish reports, as requested
   Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions
   Confirm rates with carriers
   Responsible for cost containment of shipments, via accounting system
   Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of pick up and/or delivery 
   Ensure all DSV KPIs met throughout the movement of the shipment
   Lane analysis required on orders to select the most appropriate mode of transport within customer requirements 
   Daily Communication with customers on relevant issues and resolution
   Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution

   Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification - Montreal location
   Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
   Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

   A minimum of two years international transportation industry experience or,
   Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.
   CIFFA certificate, an asset

   Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
   GDP Training, if required

Skills and Competencies

   Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.  
   Ability to create collaborative engagements and active listening
   Service oriented and able to resolve customer grievances 

   Strong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally 
   Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills 
   Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively in order to meet goals and achieve results

   Excellent organizational and time management skills

Language and Computer Skills

   Due to the nature and scope of the international business in dealing with customers, colleagues and overseas offices, English is the principal language for this position and in addition, proficiency of the French language is required for local communication 
   Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
   Microsoft Office suite

   CargoWise experience, an asset

Physical Demands

   Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
