Job description

Ocean Import/Export Supervisor

Your role on the team:

  • Develops Internal Operating Procedure (IOP) based on customer specifications
  • Provides rate quotations as requested from our overseas offices and agents
  • Prioritizes and delegates workload to ensure high customer service levels are met
  • Assists in the enforcement of Export/Import Ocean, Air or Ground Services, Policies and Procedures
  • Monitors and forecasts volumes for P&L purposes
  • Develops and monitors KPI data for customer review
  • Meet with local steamship and/or trucking company representatives in order to stay current with market conditions and ensure service/cost requirements are met
  • Addresses employee disciplinary and performance issues and complaints
  • Provide support as needed to Solutions and Implementation to successfully on-board new opportunities

What you need:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience, with sea freight preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Must be PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Cargowise
  • Knowledge of Canadian customs, import and export process and ensure custom compliance
  • Sea freight industry and processes would be an asset.
  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement, suggest such opportunity to management and develop the procedure necessary to implement
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Strong written/oral communication, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work, while developing specific goals and plans to complete tasks

Expérience
• Minimum 5 ans d’expérience pertinente dans le secteur, avec une préférence pour le fret aérien ou maritime
• Minimum 2 ans d’expérience en gestion d’équipe
• Maîtrise des outils informatiques, en particulier Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook et PowerPoint
• Expérience avec Cargowise
