Job Position: Team Leader Air Export

Reports To: Airfreight Manager YUL

Location: YUL

Overall job purpose:


  • Manages and drives performance of a team of Airfreight Export Specialists

  • Ensures customer requirements are met and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements

  • Ensures airfreight export shipments are processed in a timely and efficient manner and according to regulations and internal procedures

  • Acts as subject matter expert for AFR Operations questions

  • Interacts with other departments such as Product, Finance and Global Service Centers, if required


Qualifications:


  • Extensive knowledge of AFR Export Operations, strong background in Aerospace preferred

  • Fit for people management role (communication, motivation and interpersonal skills)

  • Demonstrates strong communication capabilities

  • Easily capable of making well informed decisions

  • Knowledge of Cargowise software considered a strong asset

  • Experience in operational handling of temperature controlled cargo considered an asset

  • Experience in operational handling of dangerous good considered an asset

  • Good understanding of financial reports (e.g. P&L)

  • Experience with IATA CASS platform, CERS, Secure Air Chain of Custody


Main tasks & key responsibilities:


  • Organizes and plans day-to-day work of Export Operations Specialists

  • Supervises Transactional Operations (pick ups, consolidations & bookings, airline transfers)

  • Ensures handling of required Export documents according to regulations and internal procedures

  • Follows up on important export shipments, identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents

  • Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution

  • Creates, builds and maintains excellent relationships with key suppliers

  • Continuously monitors supplier performance and develops improvement plan when required

  • Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department

  • Creates, builds and maintains relationships with other internal functions (e.g. Capacity Management, ACC, Sales, Customer Service) and acts as subject matter expert for ad hoc

  • Ensures that proper implementation of customer has been conducted before Operations is starting regular business service

  • Manage operations within area of responsibility

  • Evaluate Air Export personnel on a yearly basis

  • Ensure adherence to operational KPIs, identify areas for improvement and monitor results

  • Serve as a first escalation point for all customer service / airfreight export related operational issues.

  • Provide assistance to staff in all matters affecting area of responsibility


Minimum Requirements (Education, experience and skills):

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a supervisory role

  • Proven track record in a Freight Forwarding Supervisor role, with excellent customer interacting skills

  • Deep knowledge of Freight Forwarding processes and systems

  • Process-Driven

  • Ability to take ownership and steer a Freight Forwarders Team

  • Ability to lead and coach effectively

  • Ability to identify and meet customer needs in a pleasant and friendly manner

  • Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills

  • Self-directed working style - Leads by example

  • Excellent Bilingual telephone and E-mail skills required

  • Commercial attitude, able to build strong relationships with customers

Pay Transparency:


Salary Range: CAD $68.475 - $114,125 base salary + Bonus + full benefits.
