To become an export manager, you need a bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, international business, or a similar field. You should take courses in economics, business, and accounting, and most employers prefer some level of export experience. Since you work with international companies, knowing multiple languages is beneficial, as is familiarity with foreign currencies, customs, tariffs, trading regulations, and international contract terms. Other qualifications include an excellent understanding of marketing and sales strategies, knowledge of international trade, taxation, and budget management, excellent negotiating skills, awareness of shipment processes, and strong customer service and communication skills.
