Freight Forwarding Coordinator

Full-Time | Direct Hire
Compensation: $65,000 - $72,000 annually


Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Freight Forwarding Coordinator to support international logistics operations across ocean and air shipments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems in real time, and takes ownership of shipments from start to finish.

You will play a critical role in ensuring shipments move efficiently, documentation is accurate, and customers remain informed throughout the process.


What You'll Be Doing

Shipment Coordination & Execution
Manage end-to-end international shipments (ocean import/export and air freight)
Coordinate with carriers, overseas agents, and internal teams to ensure timely movement of freight
Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers and stakeholders

Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and review shipping documents including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and FMC guidelines
Maintain accurate records within internal systems (Cargowise preferred)

Customer & Carrier Communication
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts
Communicate delays, issues, and solutions clearly and professionally
Work closely with carriers and vendors to resolve shipment challenges

Problem Solving & Operations Support
Troubleshoot shipment delays, customs issues, or routing problems
Identify and resolve discrepancies in documentation or system entries
Support continuous improvement efforts within the logistics process


What You Bring

5+ years of experience in international freight forwarding (ocean and/or air)
Experience handling NVOCC shipments (import/export)
2+ years of hands-on experience with Cargowise (required)
Strong knowledge of international shipping documentation and compliance
Familiarity with Incoterms and global trade practices
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)


Preferred

Experience working with both ocean and air freight operations
Exposure to customs clearance processes
Background supporting high-volume or complex logistics accounts
Additional language skills (Japanese a plus, not required)
