Job description

Title: Freight Clerk
Location:  Lemont, IL

Salary: $51,000 - $65,000
Schedule: Hybrid schedule available of up to 2 days remote per week

Focus: The Freight Clerk is responsible for the review and payment authorization of applicable NA truck 3PL freight invoices, and the cost recovery and reporting of related truck accessorial charges.
 


Freight Clerk Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with timely and accurate response to proof of delivery requests, invoice submission to Freight Payables, and customer service or stakeholder inquiries.
  • Review of all unplanned truck accessorial freight invoices for payment authorization, research, and any payment shortages for resolution or escalation.
  • Generate invoices for truck accessorial charges according to customer & contract specifications and prepare and distribute related cost and recovery reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including dispatch, customer service and technical services, to ensure understanding and alignment of requirements and priorities.
  • Prioritize work and shifting department demands, delivering on daily responsibilities and special projects, with a working knowledge of current Olin products, plan production rates, and shipping capabilities.


Freight Clerk Requirements:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of professional office experience; transportation or chemicals industry experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in billing, collections, or customer service preferred.; 3PL experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with strong, demonstrated understanding and use of Excel.
  • Highly adaptable and self-motivated; able to identify and prioritize actions to manage multiple, shifting priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Team player with customer-focused mentality.
