Job description

POSITION: IMPORT CLERK

CLASSIFICATION:FULL TIME

LOCATION:LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT  

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $18.00/hr

Seeking Import Clerk to assist Logistics Department to manage, track and oversee company's imported goods into the country and coordinate with Manager and Customs Broker to obtain and execute all documents necessary for custom clearance of import transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Prior to Arrival of Goods:

oVerify of Import related documents provided by shippers to ensure they are in order and accurate.

oVerify Shippers notice, request of processing freight charges.

oObtain duty information from Custom Brokers.

Upon Arrival of Goods:

oObtain any missing documents /Information required by Customs in order to have them release the Goods. 

oObtain USDA Release information from Customer Broker.

oVerify the status of examination by USDA at CES.

oVerify location of Container and arrange for transport of container or Goods once it is released by USDA.

oVerify FDA Hold item information on WEB. Report to Warehouse Manager.

Process abandonment of USDA rejected Goods and FDA rejected Goods

Calculate of cost for each item using cost extension format.

Coordinate with POS and Buyers to update them on cost of goods, currency rates, formats, etc...

Renews and updates permits related to importing 

File documents: Cost Extension, Arrival Notice, FDA & USDA notices.

Regularly communicate with shippers to receive any new or updated information relating to import of goods.

Regularly checks for any FDA Import Alert Updates and shares same with all related parties.

Other task as assigned.


EXPERIENCE/

EDUCATION:2-year Associates degree preferred but not required. A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in importing/exporting, accounting, administration or a combination of same. Japanese language is preferred.


ABILITIES:Organized and detail in work; Good mathematic abilities; Good verbal/written communication skills; Proficient computer skills: especially with Excel / spreadsheets. MS Outlook and Word also used; and self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision.


SCHEDULE:Monday through Friday, Eight hour Schedule per day between the hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.


SALARY: (Rate may be negotiable depending upon experience)
