Developer Community Programs Manager

Bentley Systems

MA โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Posted 9 days ago

Job description

Location: Home-based or hybrid within the Eastern time zone, United States

Position Summary:

Developers are building the future of infrastructure, and Bentley wants to make sure they have every reason to build it with us. As our Developer Community Programs Manager, you will own the strategy and execution of Bentley's developer programs portfolio: hackathons, Developer Days, technical workshops, API and SDK experiences, build challenges, and peer-learning events. This is a role for someone who understands developers not as an audience to be marketed to, but as a community to be genuinely invested in.

Working cross-functionally between Corporate Marketing, Developer Relations, Product, and Partner teams, you will serve as the connective tissue that ensures Bentley's developer initiatives are coordinated, visible, and building toward something larger than the sum of their parts. You will establish the playbooks, partnerships, and program models that allow Bentley's developer engagement to scale across products, regions, and communities.

If you are energized by the intersection of technical credibility and creative program design, and you thrive where your work connects directly to platform strategy and business growth, this is a rare opportunity to build something meaningful at a company redefining what engineering software can do for the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and scale programs such as hackathons, Developer Days, technical webinars, API and SDK workshops, live demonstrations, build challenges, office hours, and peer-learning experiences.

  • Serve as the go-to point within Corporate Marketing for developer-focused initiatives, helping connect the work happening across Bentley and ensuring programs are coordinated, visible, and aligned.

  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Developer Relations, technical subject matter experts, Events, Partner Marketing, and other stakeholders who share the goal of reaching and engaging more developers.

  • Translate Bentleyโ€™s broader developer strategy into compelling programs and experiences that help developers understand what they can build, extend, or enable with Bentley technology.

  • Identify opportunities for Bentley to participate in or partner with external developer communities, industry groups, universities, technology partners, open-source communities, and other relevant organizations.

  • Build and manage relationships with developer community partners, event organizers, technical advocates, influencers, and ecosystem leaders who can help Bentley reach new audiences.

  • Partner with internal and external experts to shape program content, including technical sessions, demonstrations, tutorials, challenges, use cases, and developer learning journeys.

  • Create clear pathways for program participants to continue engaging with Bentley through community spaces, technical resources, future events, partner opportunities, and ongoing learning.

  • Work with Community Platform and Community Experience teams to ensure developer audiences are welcomed into Bentleyโ€™s broader community and can easily discover relevant programs, resources, and conversations.

  • Capture feedback and insights from developer programs and share them with Product, Engineering, Developer Relations, and other relevant teams to inform future experiences, resources, and platform priorities.

  • Establish repeatable program models, playbooks, and operating processes that enable developer initiatives to scale across products, regions, industries, and audiences.

  • Track participation, engagement, conversion, feedback, partner contribution, and program outcomes to measure the reach and impact of Bentleyโ€™s developer programs.

  • This is an individual contributor role.

  • Occasional travel required.

  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in developer programs, developer relations, technical community building, ecosystem marketing, technical product marketing, partner programs, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated experience developing or managing developer-focused experiences such as hackathons, Developer Days, workshops, webinars, build challenges, technical events, or learning programs.

  • Strong technical acumen, with the ability to understand and communicate concepts related to APIs, SDKs, developer tools, technical platforms, and developer workflows.

  • Credibility with developer and technical audiences, with the ability to understand their needs and create experiences that are useful, relevant, and engaging.

  • Strong program management skills, including the ability to move from strategy into execution and coordinate multiple programs, stakeholders, timelines, and dependencies.

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Community, Events, Partnerships, and external organizations.

  • Experience developing partnerships with developer communities, technology organizations, universities, event organizers, or ecosystem partners.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders and clearly articulate program goals and opportunities.

  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating across a distributed organization where ownership and activity may sit across several teams.

  • Experience with GitHub, developer portals, community platforms, technical events, open-source ecosystems, or developer-focused communications is preferred.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Bentley has a clear and coordinated portfolio of developer programs that supports its broader developer and platform strategy.

  • Hackathons, Developer Days, webinars, workshops, and other developer experiences become repeatable, scalable, and connected rather than operating as one-off activities.

  • Corporate Marketing has a clear point of contact who understands the developer landscape across Bentley and can bring the right internal stakeholders together around shared opportunities.

  • Bentley reaches and engages more developers through a combination of owned programs, external partnerships, and participation in relevant technical communities.

  • Developers have more opportunities to learn about Bentley technology, experiment with its capabilities, build meaningful solutions, and connect with Bentley experts and peers.

  • Developer programs create sustained engagement by giving participants clear next steps into Bentleyโ€™s community, resources, programs, and ecosystem.

  • Bentley develops stronger relationships with developer advocates, technical partners, universities, community leaders, and organizations that can extend its reach and credibility.

  • Internal teams gain greater visibility into developer activity, audience needs, program performance, and opportunities for future collaboration.
