Project Description:
DRT provides public health, technology, data, communications, and visualization support to enhance the government’s ability to use public health data to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems. This includes designing and developing application and database solutions. In addition, this team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques to enhance safety research and recommendation efforts across the country.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Rhapsody developer to design, develop, and support healthcare integration solutions using Rhapsody Integration Engine. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HL7 messaging, interface development, and healthcare system integrations. This role will collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT teams to ensure seamless data exchange across enterprise healthcare applications.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, test, and deploy interfaces using Rhapsody Integration Engine.
  • Develop and maintain HL7 v2.x, CCD, and FHIR interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot interface errors, message failures, and performance issues.
  • Configure communication protocols (TCP/IP, MLLP, SFTP, SOAP/REST APIs).
  • Work with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or other clinical systems.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and technical design sessions.
  • Develop technical documentation and interface specifications.
  • Perform unit, integration, and regression testing.
  • Monitor production interfaces and provide on-call support as needed.
Required Experience:
  • Five (5+) years of experience developing interfaces in Rhapsody Integration Engine.
  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards.
  • Experience with FHIR APIs and healthcare interoperability frameworks.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or Java (for scripting within Rhapsody).
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
  • Understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical data structures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Work Authorization & Clearance Requirement:
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with the Centers for Disease Control environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes.
  • Experience with occupational safety applications (NIOSH).
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Salary Range:
  • $70,000-$90,000
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
