Job Summary

The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for accurately posting patient and insurance payments to patient accounts.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Posting patient and insurance payments to patient accounts with a high degree of accuracy in a high-volume, time-sensitive work environment.
  • Handle additional payment-related functions as necessary.
  • Retrieve checks by payer on electronic and enter payments into billing software.
  • Follow internal payer protocols and posting guidelines relating to payer fee schedules.
  • Run and analyze balancing report to insure accurate posting.
  • Meet monthly post goals and closing deadlines.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Able to build billing spread sheets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of related experience preferred

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Excellent communicator.
  • Knowledge of health insurance.
  • Experience working with Electronic Response Admittance's (ERAs) and Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
  • Organized and able to focus.
  • Identify account problems along with trends and patterns.
  • Able to promptly learn and utilize our system
