Overview

This position is responsible for the performance of a variety of toxicological and biochemical laboratory tests in an accurate and timely manner. Professional judgment is exercised to ascertain the appropriateness of the test orders, the validity of test results and to communicate this information to the physician or patient care provider.

As a part of our Toxicology team there will be a rotating weekend on-call schedule; currently once a month (subject to change)

Responsibilities

  • Performs highly complex forensic toxicology, medical toxicology, and special chemistry laboratory procedures with minimum supervision
  • Performs continuous quality assurance activities
  • Supports new method development and research projects for primary investigators
  • Maintains general operations of the laboratory
  • Multiple instruments utilized including enzyme immunoassay, atomic adsorption, GC-MS, and LC-MS/MS

  • Therapeutic drug monitoring and drug screening/confirmations supporting hospital services along with forensic drug testing performed

  • Special chemistry tests performed for the diagnosis of numerous inherited metabolic disorders, follow-up to positive state newborn screening results and routine dietary monitoring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Physical Science and 1-2 years experience
  • National Registry of Certified Chemists-NRCC eligible or Preferred
  • MLS - ASCP Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP or Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.25/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
