Job description

Williams College is seeking an HRIS Analyst to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Director of Compensation, Benefits and HR Systems, this role is a vital partner in optimizing our human resources information systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient system functionality and business processes, with an eye towards process improvements. If you are a collaborative problem-solver who enjoys bridging the gap between functional HR needs and technology and who stays curious about evolving systems and tools, we invite you to join our team.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Reporting & Analytics: Design and maintain dashboards and reports to drive strategic decision-making. Conduct data quality audits, manage mass data loads, and enforce data governance practices to ensure system integrity and compliance.
  • HRIS Operations: Manage foundational data structures (positions, job profiles, organizational assignments). Oversee system integrations and automated data feeds between Workday, benefits platforms, and internal systems, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Systems Analysis & Optimization: Analyze and configure HRIS modules to meet organizational needs. Proactively identify process improvements to enhance system efficiency, usability, and data accuracy.
  • Requirements & Implementation: Act as a key liaison between HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT. Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, and lead testing efforts (UAT, integration testing) for system upgrades and new implementations.
  • User Support & Training: Serve as a subject matter expert for HRIS functionality. Provide advanced troubleshooting support and deliver training, documentation, and guidance to HR staff, managers, and employees.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience in HRIS, HR systems, or systems analysis (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of administrative software systems and data integration. Experience gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, and creating clear business process documentation.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to investigate technical issues, identify data gaps, and design efficient, proactive solutions.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for a diverse, non-technical audience.
  • Adaptability & Organization: A self-motivated, detail-oriented learner capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines and staying current with evolving technologies.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work productively both independently and as part of a service-focused, cross-functional team.
  • Location: Ability to work on campus three or more days per week and reside in MA, NY, CT, or VT.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education is desirable.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining cloud administrative applications (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g., BI tools, Query Manager, or similar).
  • HR Certification (SHRM or HRCI).

This full-time, year-round position is eligible for Williams College's robust benefits package designed to support you in your work and overall health and wellness.
Hybrid on-site/remote work arrangements may be available up to 2 days per week with approval for employees based in NY, MA, CT, or VT, following an initial in-person onboarding period.
