Department Summary

The VP of Total Rewards shapes and drives EchoStar’s enterprise-wide compensation, benefits and recognition strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this leader ensures our programs attract, motivate and retain top talent while supporting the company’s transformation and long-term growth. This role operates with significant influence across the organization, advising senior leadership and championing a modern, competitive and compliant total rewards philosophy.


Job Duties and Responsibilities
Culture & Alignment
  • Embed EchoStar’s values—Pride, Adventure, and Winning—into all reward programs.
  • Create reward philosophies and frameworks that promote performance, accountability, and an exceptional employee experience.
  • Serve as a cultural ambassador, ensuring leaders understand how rewards reinforce desired behaviors and outcomes.

Strategy & Advocacy

  • Build and execute a holistic total rewards strategy covering base pay, executive compensation, equity programs, STI, LTI, and broad-based rewards.
  • Oversee design, governance, and delivery of compensation architecture, incentive plans, salary structures, and benefits programs.
  • Serve as the enterprise expert on emerging market trends, benchmarking, modeling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate and modernize programs to maintain market competitiveness and support ongoing organizational transformation.
  • Provide clear, data-driven insights to guide leadership decision-making.
Leadership & Influence
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Total Rewards team that operates with accuracy, confidentiality, and agility.
  • Partner closely with the Chief People Officer, CFO, and business leaders to align reward programs with organizational goals.
  • Directly influence the Chairman, CEO, and Compensation Committee by presenting program designs, benchmarking, and strategic recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary architect and advisor on executive compensation, equity strategy, and incentive plan governance.
  • Strengthen cross-functional alignment with Finance, Legal, HR, and business units to ensure cohesive and scalable programs.
  • Maintain strong governance and data integrity across all compensation and benefits processes.

Skills, Experience and Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience with deep expertise in compensation and benefits, including executive compensation, equity, STI, and LTI programs.
  • Proven track record leading total rewards strategy at scale in a fast-paced or multi-brand environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and Excel skills with strong attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to guide executives and present to the Chairman and Compensation Committee.
  • Experience handling highly confidential information and sensitive compensation programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while operating with speed and precision.
  • Background in both entrepreneurial and large, established environments is ideal.

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $200,000.00/Year - $300,000.00/Year
