Job description

GridSource is seeking a Vice President of Telecom Operations in Leander, Austin or San Antonio TX.
The Vice President of Telecom Operations (VP) is responsible for leading all construction and field operations across the Texas market, with primary focus on the Austin/San Antonio region. This role will drive execution, scalability, and financial performance across a high-volume telecommunications construction operation.
Reporting to the EVP of Construction, the VP will oversee daily operations, build and develop regional leadership infrastructure, and ensure safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery. This leader will play a critical role in strengthening operational consistency across the broader West market.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day operations across fiber construction projects, including micro-trenching, underground, and aerial builds
  • Drive production, scheduling, and resource optimization to meet aggressive delivery timelines
  • Standardize processes, reporting, and field execution across crews and regions
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

Market & Team Development
  • Build out and strengthen supporting leadership structure across the Texas/West market
  • Identify gaps in field leadership and implement scalable organizational design
  • Mentor regional and project leaders to drive accountability and performance

Financial Performance
  • Own P&L performance for the Texas market
  • Monitor margins, job costing, and production metrics
  • Implement KPIs to improve efficiency, cost control, and profitability

Strategic Execution
  • Partner with EVP on market growth strategy and capacity planning
  • Support long-range forecasting, workforce planning, and capital allocation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction operations

Safety & Compliance
  • Partner with EHS to maintain a zero-incident safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards

Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent delivery and communication

Qualifications
  • Progressive leadership experience in telecom construction or infrastructure
  • Strong experience in micro-trenching and traditional telecom construction methods (aerial/underground/splicing)
