Job description

Position Summary: The Telecommunications Apprentice will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associate process alongside a licensed Telecom Technician

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance at assigned location that may include office or other project sites
  • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients
  • Assist with installation of cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, fire stopping materials
  • Assist with installation relays, cabinets, network switches
  • Assists with the termination of data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cables
  • Assist with installation cable trays above and below floors
  • Ability to work in small spaces
  • Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer and fiber test equipment

Essential Skills & Characteristics:

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
  • Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality
  • Participate in site housekeeping
  • Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Management
  • At times may perform clerical/administrative duties

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or relevant work experience
  • 0-4 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship
  • OSHA 10 certification
