What is a Virtual Pharma company?

A Virtual Pharma company is a pharmaceutical organization that operates without owning physical laboratories or manufacturing facilities. Instead, it focuses on managing drug development projects by outsourcing research, clinical trials, and production to external partners and contract organizations. This model allows for greater flexibility, reduced overhead costs, and the ability to leverage specialized expertise. Virtual Pharma companies often focus on project management, regulatory affairs, and strategy while relying on collaborations to bring products to market.

How does a Virtual Pharma professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote environment?

As a Virtual Pharma professional, you will frequently collaborate with cross-functional teams such as regulatory affairs, clinical operations, data management, and commercial strategy, often using digital communication tools. Virtual teamwork requires proactive communication, regular video meetings, and efficient use of project management platforms to ensure alignment on timelines and deliverables. Adapting to different working styles and time zones can be a challenge, but it also provides an opportunity to build strong, diverse networks and learn from global colleagues. Success in this environment depends on your ability to work independently while staying connected and responsive to team needs.

Job description

Own the Playbook. Win the Logos. Build the GTM.

Helical is building the AI-native lab for biology; replacing slow, costly wet lab experimentation with scalable, virtual discovery. Our platform is already deployed with leading global pharma, enabling teams to run millions of experiments in days, not years.

We have product-market traction. Now weโ€™re scaling and looking for someone to build and lead that journey.

Weโ€™re hiring a Head of Sales to own new business and build Helicalโ€™s commercial function from the ground up.

This is a player-coach role. Youโ€™ll be responsible for closing high-value deals yourself, while also shaping how we go to market; defining the playbook, building pipeline, and laying the foundations for a high-performing commercial team.

This is not a โ€œmanage and inheritโ€ role. This is build, sell, and scale.

Win New Business
  • Land new logos across top pharma and large biotech
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals with scientific buyers
  • Turn initial deals into long-term, multi-program partnerships
Build the GTM Engine
  • Define and execute the go-to-market
