Primary Function
A. O. Smith Corporation (NYSE: AOS), a global leader in water heating and water treatment solutions, is seeking an experienced and strategic Treasurer to lead the Company's global treasury function. Reporting to the Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate FP&A, the Treasurer is responsible for liquidity management, capital structure planning, banking relationships, investments, pension oversight, financial risk management, insurance programs, and treasury operations. The role also leads enterprise working capital and cash optimization initiatives that enhance free cash flow, balance sheet efficiency, and shareholder value creation.
As a key member of the finance leadership team, the Treasurer partners with business and functional leaders to support capital allocation decisions, strategic investments, acquisitions, financing activities, and enterprise growth initiatives while ensuring strong financial discipline, risk management, and operational execution.
Responsibilities
Treasury Leadership & Liquidity Management
  • Lead all aspects of the Company's global treasury function, including liquidity management, cash forecasting, investments, debt administration, banking relationships, intercompany funding, and treasury operations.
  • Develop short- and long-term liquidity forecasts to support business operations, strategic planning, and capital deployment decisions.
  • Optimize global cash positioning, cross-border funding strategies, and foreign cash repatriation activities.
  • Ensure strong governance, internal controls, SOX compliance, and continuous improvement of treasury processes, systems, and reporting.

Working Capital Strategy & Cash Optimization
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Shared Services, and Finance teams to improve working capital performance and cash conversion cycle metrics.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize inventory, receivables, payables, and free cash flow generation.
  • Develop working capital analytics, benchmarks, and performance metrics to support executive decision-making.
  • Identify and implement leading practices that improve cash generation, balance sheet efficiency, and return on invested capital.

Capital Structure & Financing
  • Support development and execution of the Company's capital structure and funding strategy.
  • Manage relationships with lenders, banking partners, and financing counterparties.
  • Lead negotiation, administration, and compliance monitoring of credit facilities and financing arrangements.
  • Evaluate financing alternatives and support acquisitions, strategic investments, and growth initiatives.

Financial Risk Management, Insurance & Governance
  • Lead foreign exchange, interest rate, and other financial risk management programs.
  • Develop and execute appropriate hedging and risk mitigation strategies consistent with Company policy and risk tolerance.
  • Oversee global insurance and risk financing programs, including property, casualty, executive liability, cyber, and other corporate coverages.
  • Manage relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, actuaries, and external advisors.
  • Partner with Legal, Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, and business leaders to assess risk exposures and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain treasury, insurance, and risk management policies, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant treasury leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience managing corporate liquidity, cash forecasting, banking relationships, debt facilities, and financial risk management programs.
  • Strong understanding of foreign exchange and interest rate risk management.
  • Experience working within a multinational business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across an organization.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and business partnership skills.

Preferred
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, CTP, or other relevant professional designation.
  • Experience in corporate FP&A, business-unit finance, operational finance, commercial finance, or strategic finance leadership roles.
  • Public company experience within a global manufacturing or industrial organization.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, capital allocation decisions, strategic planning, and acquisition financing activities.
  • International treasury, global cash management, and banking relationship management experience.
  • Exposure to public debt markets, capital markets activities, or other sophisticated financing structures.
  • Experience managing corporate insurance programs, risk financing strategies, and enterprise financial risk management.
  • Experience leading working capital improvement, cash conversion cycle optimization, and free cash flow enhancement initiatives.
